HGC may be a virtuoso of thrillers. I love the way he creates intrigue in this film. I also appreciate what I prefer to call "small terrors" - little, carefully crafted scenarios that create anxiety. What positively surprised me was Diabolique borderlining horror at times.

The ending is good, although an experienced noir watcher can guess it pretty easily.

One of the best of 2024.

Combines the emotional sincerity of Roma and the intrigue of Parasite, all strictly connected to the political climate of its time. While politics is undoubtedly a huge part of the film, I'm Still Here does not try to spark a revolution. Its mere purpose is to show a brutally honest depiction of human suffering - the result of government's twisted decisions.

Stellar performance from Fernanda Torres. Masterful use of mise en scene, as well…

Romance movies either hit me really hard or do very little. This one was unfortunately a letdown in terms of emotional impact.

Not saying that Portrait was a bad film. Its style was very reminiscent of Ingmar Bergman's work. Little to no music, good cinematography, calm dialogue, subtle hints at huge emotions. Yeah, highly inspired by our good ol' Sweed.

These women look slightly like Emma Watson and Emily Blunt lmao.

I can still see why other people (especially romance suckers) love Portrait.

I'm going to show this film to a former friend of mine. "8 days of heavy drinking in 3 weeks" bro you're either bullshiting me or you're going to end like Mads Mikkelsen.
