Not gonna lie, this movie kinda had me triggered throughout most of the runtime. My poor mom (who had seen it already) watched this with me and had to listen to me spew out random, incredulous diatribes every five minutes, such as:

    - “How come there are not one, but two movies that tried to convince us that Anne Hathaway was some kind of ugly duckling in desperate need of a transformation even though she was always beautiful?”
    - “Why are they…

“No, Elvis is not dead, he just went home.”

Virtually every single thing that comes out of Tommy Lee Jones’ mouth in this is pure gold. The same goes for Will Smith as well, but Jones’ straight-as-an-arrow delivery makes his dialogue much more memorable. Seriously, no more “well, that just happened” type humor in blockbuster movies…give me more characters who witness unbelievably weird shit happening right in front of them and don’t even bat an eye.

The Neuralizer is easily one of the top 5 movie props I desperately want to own. Give me one those and a TRON light disc and I’ll be happy.

That ending had me incredulously saying “what the f**k?!” to myself for a solid minute or two. Talk about pulling the rug from under you at the last possible minute…literally.

Better on rewatch, but it doesn’t have the same unbridled sense of whirlwind fun as Rodriguez’s ‘90s offerings. But it’s definitely his best looking film though (next to Alita)…makes me wanna try and shoot something on a green screen even though I know it won’t look even remotely as good as this movie.
