Wings of Desire 1987
Watching this film in a crowded theater was quite literally a spiritual experience.
Wenders explores the divide between the physical and divine, past and present, and Berlin’s East and West all in one meditative journey. While the musings and dialogue were a little too overly indulgent at times, the cinematography is undoubtedly god-tier (no pun intended). The moment color arrives feels like a revelation. And the concert-within-a-film scenes were absolutely transcendent. I can’t even think of a witty comment about this — it’s just so good.

Mickey 17 2025
I love that Warner Brothers was like “you know what, hell yeah” and gave Bong Joon-ho a blockbuster budget to create Mickey 17. RPat was fantastic and I had fun watching this, but it pains me to say that I was left wanting more. The beginning was strong but by the third act or so things started to sputter out. Just like Mickey 17 in the (almost) threesome scene, it seemed like Director Bong couldn’t fully commit.
