  Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes 2024

  Myself and my boyfriend decided to watch this as it’s a film neither of us had seen before. He’d watched the other films in the franchise but I went in blind & with no clue what was coming up. 

  My oh my was I hooked.

  I’m writing this after completing the franchise and, in hindsight, it was the least strong of the bunch. HOWEVER, that’s not to say it’s not good - because it is just factually brilliant.

  I’m just so mad at myself for never having seen this film franchise before now. It is actually a cinematic masterpiece. 

  Not to be all ‘I’m an empath bla bla bla’ but I felt SO attached to the apes in this film. Especially Caesar. What was interesting is that I was finding myself making excuses for James’ Franco’s character, then was suddenly in realisation that everything was his fault in the first place.

  Atmospheric, intense and insanely good setting. Instant five stars. 

  I’ve never seen any of the Batman films, so was completely short on lore and understanding of characters/plot going into this. HOWEVER, I still enjoyed this film an insane amount.

  The characters were 10/10. Even the Riddler, who was just insane, was so well-written. Gave me the heeby jeebies every time he was on screen. Same with the Penguin! Who seemed just as skeevy!
