  "a real pain" as a title feels so trite until you realize how restrained this film is in almost every way and there's something about weighing what pain is "real" and what pain is mundane and measuring our individual struggles against the most existential pain and struggle that feels really? beautiful? and poignant? as a concept? everyone loves kieran culkin but this is one of my favorite jesse eisenberg performances in a long time
