Repentance 1984
The movie shows cruelty, absurdity and hypocrisy of totalitarianism. Varlam is an image of a totalitarian leader. He has Hitler's moustache and Lavrentiy Beria's glasses. They didn't include Stalin's features maybe because this movie was made in 1984, before the collapse of Soviet Union. In depraved empires like the Soviet Union justice is blind, people are punished for wisdom and kindness and evil is praised for its cruelty and idiocy.

Burning 2018
At first the movie got me confused but now it makes more sense. I think greenhouse is not actually a greenhouse but rather metaphor for the lives Ben takes away (because Jong su never actually finds any burnt greenhouse near his house). The accessories in his drawers obviously belong to his victims and that's why we see Hae-mi's watch in the end. Ben says that Korean police never cares about "greenhouses", I assume, by that he means that the police…
