Despite the film being 3 hours long, every scene was enjoyable. The portrayal of Salieri as the ultimate embodiment of envy, despite his talent (though, of course, not as much as Mozart's), makes him an incredibly nuanced and well-written character that remains deeply human. Going into this film, I was expecting a supremely glamorous depiction of a less-than-interesting topic: the atomic bomb. The bomb’s development is fascinating, but the depictions of high-stakes and tension that the trailer was projecting was not something I thought was realistic. I assumed Nolan would make the film a race against time, exaggerating the capacities of Germany and Japan (to historical inaccuracy) in an attempt to dramatize Oppenheimer’s scientific journey.
