Peter Carey’s novel is rare and irresistible. Gillian Armstrong’s adaptation is similarly irresistible. Cate Blanchett and Ralph Fiennes are fresh and engaging as two gamblers in love, in Sydney around 1848. One of my all time favourite novels and films that has a precious and magical quality that lingers.

Perfect Days 2023
I’ve always loved Tokyo - and after watching this I felt more strongly connected to the city and certain personalities you might meet there. This delivered a deliciously heightened emotional connection.
Simplicity is a state of perfection and Wim Wenders, a master filmmaker has found an exquisite cinematic expression of this sophisticated form of expression. For his performance, Koji Hasimoto as Hirayama was awarded the Best Actor award in the 76th Cannes Film Festival. Well deserved.
