    Me: 4/10
Moriah: 6.5/10 based on so-bad-it’s-good entertainment

I don’t care for most of Shyamalan’s films, so wasn’t expecting anything different with Trap. But since it’s streaming on Netflix and we didn’t have much else new to watch. The writing from the start is preposterous, and I just can’t see Josh Hartnett as a serial killer. Shyamalan’s daughter Saleka plays pop star Lady Raven, whose concert Hartnett takes his daughter to see, where police are trying to spring the titular trap for him. She sings and acts decently, probably the best aspect of the movie.

    The Haunted

    ★★★

As with any of the movies featuring Ed and Lorraine Warren, people should be aware that they were charlatans who either helped other charlatans or exploited people experiencing some dysfunctional and disturbing family situations. That said, this is a decent TV movie (although I had to watch a pretty low resolution version on YouTube, I remember seeing it as a kid) about the Smurl family haunted by several spirits, including a demon. There’s nothing compelling or original here, but if you enjoy ghost stories, especially those supposedly based on true stories, you might like this.

Wow this just came out yesterday and we just stumbled on it by accident hadn’t even heard of it and there’s all the usual rage virus/apocalypse tropes but with a lot of heart and though made in 2019 feels very topical to living in the 2020 coronavirus pandemic in which our President deliberately misleads the public about the danger and people don’t understand you can still spread it if you’re asymptomatic and I’m anxious as hell…

    Late Phases

    ★★★★

Late Phases aka Night of the Wolf has a lot of things going for it—strong thematic explorations, a great cast, a unique take on the werewolf story, and multiple elements of disability experience. A cantankerous blind Vietnam veteran moves into a retirement community, and on his first night there, his neighbor and guide dog are killed. He quickly figures out that it was a werewolf, and he sets out to determine who the werewolf is and prepares to defend himself on…
