    All of Us Strangers

Through a haze of blurred realities that crisscross memories, desires, devastation, and dreams, All of Us Strangers takes you somewhere where you ultimately find healing—even if you’re covered in shrapnel by the end of it.

But you have to be brave to make it through.

It felt a bit out-of-body for me at times. Because while the grief of parental loss is not something I’ve had to endure, the very specific type of queer pain relating to our families, I’ve…

It’s like when you finally get a day to sleep in and you wake up, and everything seems so peaceful. You decide to sleep some more. You go in and out of dreams. You dream about that particularly blissful summer when you were a kid; the shimmer of the pool, your weightless hair swaying underwater.

You glance at what time it is on your phone, decide you don’t want to ruin the moment by picking it up. You stare without…

    There's Still Tomorrow

What a delightful surprise I stumbled into. Was just flipping through the airplane’s selections and this caught my eye. Had never heard of it, but thoroughly enjoyed it.

It strikes an incredible balance of humor you’d find on a sitcom alongside all the struggle and difficulty of the main character. Its messaging is crystal clear by the end, but there’s still nuance in the fullness of each character.

There’s also some unique moments at play particularly with lip syncing/needle drops. It feels jarring at first and then it immediately makes complete sense.

What’s funny is I think this is what Emilia Perez was trying to be.

It felt like a first-time watch because I didn't remember a thing from it, but I really got into this. Tye Sheridan—who could be Barry Keoghan's twin—grounded the entire film. And he's the dude from Ready Player One?! Amazing. His counterpart, Jacob Lofland, made me laugh so much too. They both played excellently together.

I wish the women in this film were given a bit more dialogue and depth. That's the one major weakness of it. But it almost gets…

Patient, complicated—as most of life often is.

The film really explores the core of what it means to long for something (or someone) that's gone and the attempt to hold onto any shred of existence that may entrench you deeper into the manifest memory of them.

I have another Brazilian friend that lives here in Orlando, and we’ve been patiently waiting months for this to come out near us. We promised each other we’d watch it together.

So we finally watched it, and we both adored the movie (I’ll talk about that in a bit). But one thing that particularly added another layer to the experience was being in a theater full of white USians who chose to spend their Sunday afternoon consuming a piece of…
