  Shout out to the best birthday of my adult life, when in October of 2020 I rented out the entirety of our beloved local arthouse theater and forced a half-dozen of my dearest socially-distanced friends watch this on the biggest screen in Southern Arizona.

  I could explain why I love this movie so much, but I have enough to say about it that I should maybe pitch it somewhere now that I'm unemployed.

  I got increasingly excited by the realization that I was seeing a new entry into the classic canon of noirs about beautifully off-putting ratbag people making increasingly terrible decisions. That this one is as gay and horny and straight-up nasty as it is makes it that much better.

  Katy O'Brian has that special ability of making you unsure whether you should be more afraid FOR her or OF her (but definitely some balance of both), and Kristen Stewart's mouth sounds continue to be the most important new American art form of our modern age.
