Wow, just wow! A big thank you to my wife for getting me to finally watch this gem of a film. I should have engaged with this movie a lot sooner. True friendships are a wonderful thing to have in your life. I have been fortunate enough to have had a few. What this film does so well is encapsulates what a friendship is, it’s not afraid to show the horrible sides of having a deep connection with someone. It’s…

I loved this film, I think this would make a great double header with Moonlight another favourite of mine. The themes of sexuality, gender, masculinity, and being Black are all touched upon in this film. This a wonderful debut film from writer and director Dionne Edward’s. Natey Jones and the extremely talented Alexandra Burke play couple, Candice and Trevor, struggling to come to terms with their own dreams and identity. Wow! Just wow! This is an incredible film, I finally got to watch this movie and wished I watched this at a cinema. It’s visually stunning, grand, loud and chaotic. The way Nolan immerse you in the events of Dunkirk is breathtaking. There is a real sense of just trying to stay alive. This is not a typical war film, it’s much more than that. It captures a horrific event and does not cower away from showing you the terror and fear those men must felt on that beach. If some reason you have not watched this film, go watch it, it will leave you breathless.

This is one of my all time favourite films. Beautifully shot and acted. Barry Jenkins has created a true cinematic masterpiece. I have watched this film twice now and it’s even better on second viewing. This is a film for the outsiders. The topics covered in the film, toxic masculinity, trauma, being Black and queer and love are handled in a thought provoking manner. This is a must watch film, you will be left speechless after watching.
