A disaster. It's sort of a portent of things to come and a warning from the past as to just how dire these movies can become.
It starts with something at least. The idea of Logan hunting down an unknown assailant murdering his former comrades at least has the shape of a movie to it, but it quickly descends into an absolute mess of poor decisions, ill-conceived ideas, weird characterisation, wavering tone, a hurried need to set up a franchise without even making one good movie first, and the acting chops of will.i.am.

The Matrix Resurrections 2021
Fuck it, it’s a five-star movie.
I get why people wouldn’t dig this movie. It’s too self-referential and doesn’t contain or isn’t interested in pushing the action envelope in the same way that the original was but, it’s so rare to see a blockbuster with such a personal story to tell, that I can overlook what it isn’t and just love what it is – a beautiful, heartfelt tribute to the power of the creative act that’s so in love with its characters that it’s willing to bite the hand that feeds it to keep their legacy alive.
