OK so hear me out -
I put this on just for something to watch, and partly out of morbid curiosity. I mean don't get me wrong, I was absolutely confounded by the thing, but about halfway through I weirdly, unexpectedly, got into the whole armour and swords and war and magic of it all. This may have something to do with my ability to get invested in anything I'm put in front of (often perhaps much to my detriment).…

He gets it. Robert Eggers gets it. I don't think I would have trusted this adaptation with anyone else. I want it in my eyes again already, or better yet, fed to me intravenously.
Seriously though, this is BEAUTIFUL, and it made my Gothic little heart incredibly happy (and undeniably horny, don't at me).
The film itself seems to have been born from moonlight; moonlight and shadow and an oil lamp in the darkness.…
