  This knows what it is: a modern day Grindhouse flick that also feels outside of time; it starts in the 90s but is dolled up like the 70s, and that’s totally on purpose. Not as chilling or creepy as it could have been, but its over-the-top-ness makes for some dumb fun.

  Although, Theo James as a dork? Can’t really buy it.

  Essentially millennial Sideways, only nary an ounce of wine to be seen (there is briefly some champagne). Two boys in men’s bodies embark on a road trip, but instead of avoiding their problems through the search for and indulgence in sex, they just avoid them by lying, mostly to themselves. So yeah, a good portrayal of systemic toxic masculinty and how unhealthy it is!
