I, too, felt bamboozled when there was a notable lack of Nick Cage screaming “Not the bees!!” during this last viewing. There should be a viewer discretion across the top of the screen as the movie begins, like they do for strobe effects.
An interesting experiment in stop-motion and a lovely character study. The animation is beautifully done and there are definitely some elements that are very subtle. The care and attention of the animators and the directors to create a very authentic, real world is quite pronounced. There were moments the animation was so fluid, I would believe what I was watching were living people. The expressions of the faces will astound.
