Epic topic, incredible access to highly restricted sites, and beautifully shot. Unsettling, ominous, cryptic, and slow. At a certain point, Emma pointed out it might have been a good photo series and had a similar effect, and I agree. And then the movie morphs in the second half into a far more interesting pace and approach, more free flowing and referential. I liked, and also wanted more.
If the effective tension of the film is about how radioactivity will alter or poison all living things for a million years, the film could have used more living things in it for the audience to care about.
I am bashful to admit I hadn't seen this one before. What an absolute romp. Over the top in all the right directions. Laugh out loud funny, brutal, disgusting, and so sexy. First time I've really loved a performance by Nicholas Coppola.

A tale too good to be true, and yet we're supposed to believe that Ani believes it. A rich boy so transparent, so barely rendered, he would seem unbelievable as a supporting character in any other film with a shred of reality, and yet we're supposed to believe that Ani believes in him, and could love him.
