John Wayne's attempt to make his own Dirty Harry falls way short. McQ plays things so by the book that it just feels, even at best, generic; it doesn't do anything different or better than many gritty 70s cop films. It doesn't help that the story isn't altogether interesting, and there isn't really any notable villain character to root against.
It's an earnest effort from Wayne, but he was clearly not in his element here.
This one matches the hype.
Purely from a synopsis point of view, this seems pretty simplistic. It's basically a "get from A to B" movie. But like the best movies of it's kind, it knows how to milk the maximum amount of tension from the journey, because not only does the group have to deal with weather conditions, wild animals, and a potential lack of food, but tensions within the group also threaten to erupt into violence.
This is one…
Apparently the first ever children's program to openly deal with the topic of cancer, this is one of the more heartfelt Peanuts specials, and the sensitive subject is handled appropriately. Hard not to smile when Linus gives a bully the scolding he deserves.
