it was almost refreshing to watch this and make the trek back to yorgos’ earlier works

every scene feels stripped down to nothing but absurdism and very real human emotions. he creates a scenario for this family that’s so bizarre and aggrandized, it leaves an impression that’s just as comical as it is terrifying. i love the way this explores familial power dynamics (specifically between parent/child) as well as language, socialization, manipulation, and identity.

it’s almost as if those are some of the fundamental elements in one’s ability to both realize and achieve independence……

best part of watching this was going "the girls are fighting again!" every 10 minutes

got a little lost on the message at the very end but i still enjoyed the dramatics of it all

if you don’t have a Dropout TV subscription, i’m so sorry

absolutely unbelievable, i’ve never seen anything like this and will forever be in pursuit of discovering a form of media that gives me the same rush this did

i probably wouldn’t have been so invested had i watched this alone but i was in great company and thoroughly entertained by all the ridiculousness if i’m being totally honest.

that being said, this was so clearly written by a white man who learned what it "means to be trans" moments before he picked up his pen. even then, the transness of it all isn’t even really at the center of the story. they could’ve created something a lot more…
