i think this was a good film, but i will never forget or forgive the way that rape scene was shot. the concept of rape is terrifying on its own, we don't need a graphic showcase that lasts 5 minutes. male directors need to learn the subtlety of representing such sensitive topics, but i feel like they will never understand.

Nosferatu 2024
impossible to rate. many things i liked, many i didn't. too much was shown and revealed too ealry, real horror in my opinion lies in the unknown. i have a suspicion that this might be the case with all of eggers' films, he is too eager to show and explain everything. defoe was brilliant, so was skarsgard, but i wished i could have seen more agency behind depp's acting. she might not have been the best choice for this film, at least not at this stage of her career.

The Door 2012
if you're a HUNGARIAN director, making a film set in HUNGARY, based on a book by a famous HUNGARIAN writer, about the writer herself and other real HUNGARIAN people, then maybe, just maybe, consider casting HUNGARIAN actors to play the leading roles?
i don't care if helen mirren is an oscar winner, a true literary masterpiece was disrespected.
i'm not even gonna talk about the choppy, confusing edit that made it difficult to deepen our connection to the characters.Translated from by -
