Caine does some acting in the 75th minute.

The exterior scenes are brilliantly located - huge steel bridges, echoing car parks, the Wallsend ferry. All the interior scenes feel sweaty and claustrophobic. I found the plot hard to follow but some of that is down to audio quality and the fact I was watching a torrent with only the left channel working.

    Total time capsule now.

buys into the mythology without asking too many questions.

Norton and Fanning were the standouts to me, acting wise.
Chalamet's voice is very impressive. Yet more impressive was Holbrook as Cash - who was so unrecognisable I forgot it was him and that I'd disliked him so much in City Primeval.

Having seen Walk the Line, it's hard not to hear the (literal) echoes - It Ain't Me Babe is Dylan's song and he performed it with Baez. Cash covered…

The worst thing in this film is when he makes fun of the detective's English. Dick.

nothing for two hours and then everything. the story is about women, and women dying, and yet is staffed by men, and there seems no interest in even acknowledging this. surely the subject matter demands a more radical approach? I don't object to being made to sympathise with evil men, but watching Leo pretend badly to be stupid when I could be watching Lily - why bother?

worth it to hear Robbie's last score. any film which features "dark was the night cold was the ground" can't be irredeemable.
