  i thought some of the film making techniques were interesting in this (the lips were great), the plot is not good or interesting. i think what i rly dislike abt campion's treatment of the story is the way that it has to become some kind of universalising commentary about women's experiences when it literally cannot do that bc it depicts a very specifc series of events & woman. like how she begins the film with women taling abt love as if…

  wanted to rly like this but i just didnt, i thought it got funny only in the last like half an hour of the film.... & yh it was stilted clearly purposefully but i didnt think it worked. almost like it was trying to do a kind of wes anderson-ness with the politics added in but the style and content didnt quite meld together or something.... idk (also it was too long )

  the animation is beautiful !
  but ... the way this film uses sámi ppl is imo quite fucked up. especially around ideas of belonging/place [somehow they are 'not from here ' and also 'the locals'?] & their labour.
