Some Like It Hot 1959
On the one hand, everyone is very funny and I completely get why this movie is a classic. In its own 1959 death-of-Hayes-Code way it plays with gender in some really fun ways. Marilyn Monroe really just was That.
On the other hand I hate “man lies to woman to sleep with her and it ends up fine somehow” as a thing.
On the other OTHER hand watching Jack Lemmon play Daphne with such joy and delight??? I dunno man this movie is many things at once!

Tokyo Godfathers 2003
They truly animated the hell out of these characters and I loved it. The way we gradually learn about each of the main characters kept the emotional core of the movie grounded while the story got increasingly wild. Really well balanced, and a lovely winter holiday watch.

Witness for the Prosecution 1957
I realized I hadn't actually watched anything with Marlene Dietrich in it before, so I decided to fix it. She's great (of course) and I enjoyed the crabby Nero Wolfe vibes that Charles Laughton was delivering. More happens in the last 20 minutes than the entire first hour, but the nice voiceover at the end of the movie told me not to spoil anything, so that's all I can say!
