Love and respect to Herzog and his caves, but clearly he just wanted to do a German Romanticism adaptation of Dracula and he should have just done that instead of this malarkey. First all, Nosferatu (1922) wasn't even that great of an adaptation itself, they didn't even have the rights to the book, so I don't know why they would want to limit themselves like that.
