I mean, movies are pretty cool
Parts of this are genuinely bad and clumsy, nestled within a totally mesmerizing, oblique film and covid-induced, forward-thinking vision of the world plagued by thousands of years of human history and conflict beamed out of the head of one of our foremost cinematic nihilists. Sort of the pure vibes b-side to First Reformed, all the way down to Ethan Hawke's casting, with some of the most textured and grimy low-light digital cinematography since early 2000s Mann. I'm probably underrating this, ask me about it in 10 years.
“Iranian cinema emerges out of a thousand years of poetry, Winnipeg cinema emerges out of 50 years of infomercials.”
