There’s this haunting sad hue lingering in the back throughout the film. Maybe the point is to show that one will only “self-actualize” by the time it is too late, in which we ask is the momentary high in the end worth all the trouble? Or perhaps that death is the utmost, and final, level of self-actualization, making the whole pursuit meaningless in the first place? Maybe there’s a hidden beauty in not seeking purpose at all, a quiet acceptance…

Death is incomprehensible. It is difficult for one to reconcile themselves with the inevitably impeding “downward” trajectory of life. One way that people try to do that, is to very nobly try to “change the world”. To make happen that one grand gesture before death. We feel an existential angst towards being “ordinary”; we desire greatness in being and doing. This movie to me is about that, featuring all the other incomprehensible things about it.
