Loved how the animation mixed still and moving images and looked very real and fake at the same time. Soo harrowing and many layers of headfuck but aptly depicts a lot of societal pressures

Wtf. So Mikey Madison was great, and it’s really good that sex workers were involved in the making of the film and that in-depth research was done. But while it might do a better job at representing the community than other films, it still doesn’t go beyond a lot of stereotypes and it fails to develop Ani’s character. I also just didn’t buy the abuser-turned-good guy thing, and scenes of abuse that were almost for comedic effect were pretty grim.…

The Last Duel 2021
Jodie Comer was the only good thing about this. All in all, it’s just a film about men, for men, produced (mostly) by men. It focusses on their pride and violence while pretending it’s about the female struggle. It’s such an important story but told in completely the wrong way and by no means a ‘feminist film’ as Ben Affleck and Matt Damon claim. Not to mention the weird mix of accents and lack of French input.
