Enjoyed the hell out of this movie. Think of Survivor (yes, the tv show) but in the Catholic Church. So much drama and gossiping among the Cardinals, I fuckin' loved it. Haven't seen such chaotic scenes in a movie in a while, I love it. More comedic than I expected. As a viewer, you frustratingly recognize how disillusioned Ani was throughout the film, but when that illusion finally shatters for our protagonist, that immediate feeling of pity towards Ani takes you aback. Sean Baker packs a heavy, emotional gut-punch in the final 5 minutes of the film, a bitter end to Anora's short-lived fairytale.
