    This is my first Albert Pyun film! Can't believe I'd missed out on him up until now. Is this good? No, objectively no, how could it be, but also yes. There is not a moment of this film that is boring and I would willingly choose to watch it again, especially if drunk and/or with friends.

    Why bother? The BBC 6-parter exists. Apparently the writer made a deliberate choice to change the time-period of the story to avoid comparisons; it didn't work. Stacking the cast does not seem to produce superior results. Knightly does well, giving the character plenty of charm, but is working against a script that flattens the character out somewhat, depriving her of some of the sharpness of the novel.     I saw this at 1pm on a wet Tuesday at the PCC. I don't know what I was expecting but I came out sobbing. For a film that is so inherently about the messiness of being human there is something almost geometric about it, a real precision to its languor. Nino Castelnuevo was so beautiful.
