I must admit: I'm a sucker for neo-noir films.
While formulaic at times by leaning too heavily into noir tropes and somewhat clunky social commentary, Door Mouse is a good, though predictable, film. Additionally, it's glaringly apparent that writer/director Avan Jogia (also starring in the film as Mooney) was heavily influenced by the stylistic tendencies of Edgar Wright—specifically Wright's work on Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, borrowing heavily from the film's aesthetics for look and feel.

This film is the very definition of "If you know, you know."
Interesting film, and though there are a bevy of things to analyze, I left the theater with one pressing question: Can someone truly enjoy this film without a semblance of knowledge about Ari Aster's oeuvre, psychoanalytical terms/concepts, figures like Freud, or even A24 in general? From that perspective, one could consider this a sort of meta-film.
