  so tender, heart-warming, and sweet... i haven’t smiled this much throughout the course of a film in so long, especially in queer cinema, which rarely portrays pure, innocent, and young love through a lens other than the male gaze. my first summer (as well as its acting) is raw, intimate, and beautiful, and it does not derive its conflict from queer trauma nor fixate on the “otherness” of queerness. this is what young queer girls need.
