Pretty much exactly what you’d expect. Totally forgettable music (though cool that they let two women in their 20s write the songs instead of spending 40% of the budget on Lin-Manuel again), gross-out stuff felt unnecessary, but Dwayne is good for laughs and I liked them adding new characters. Also relatable villain, I too feel like the gods are preventing me from hanging out with my friends sometimes. I hope there’s like a Portuguese American on Reddit who got mad at the ending.

The Substance 2024
Iconic, grotesque, and preeeeetty heavy handed. Demi Moore is sensational and there are shots that are just incredible. And love the startup-y aesthetic of The Substance™️ itself. At the same time, there are sequences that go on just needlessly long (as does the movie as a whole), and the bludgeoning the audience gets from the message is almost as violent as the actual violence. Certainly worth a watch (though you may need a wholesome palate cleanse immediately after).

Dune: Part Two 2024
Truly incredible, lives up to the hype and improves on Part One in almost every way. My mouth was agape for several scenes and multiple times I was so blown away by the visuals that all I could think was “how did they make this??” Tbh could’ve been more worms. Go see this on the largest screen and with the loudest speakers you can!
