I had the pleasure of watching this in 70mm at the Music Box, which I also got a poster and a nice postcard from!
I thought this movie was really messy and all over the place, which in many ways captures the mass immigration movement just after WWII (and during) really well, but also felt like a bit of a flaw.
I thought the movie expanded really deeply into these characters but failed to elaborate on some of their psychologies…
This was an amazing movie to watch on the IMAX screen. It was also my first time ever seeing this movie! I thought the cinematography and imagery of space and the universe was beautiful and well done. I really liked the concept of humanity being tied to these complicated theories and concepts, being the most profound thing I walked away with from this movie
I tried to watch a Nightmare on Elm Street the other day and honestly couldn't get through it just on the basis that I feel like Saw has basically ruined horror movies for me.
It's kinda crazy how after two decades of slasher films, poor sequels to the Exorcist, and various other knockoff concepts Saw (2004) comes out of nowhere and completely reinvents the wheel when it comes to horror movies. There are probably film nerds who will contest this…
What a great classic movie as always. I had a bad time at my showing last night, very badly mixed audio that had the music at a loud level but the dialogue very low. People laughing way too much, which, I understand the silliness of the 70s present in the movie, but it was just too much
