Sucks to think that in the real world there is absolutely 0 chance we would have put aside our differences and worked together, or even hung out with the aliens for like a day. America would’ve called the aliens communists and shot at them immediately.
I agree that this feels like optimistic science-fi but it’s also absolutely devastating on a rewatch.
