This was such a splendid docu-series! Every episode presents a different country’s street food, giving you a glimpse into their history, culture, people, and hardships. Maybe not every main story is as impactful or as memorable as the others, but each episode has something to say about the social and cultural importance of food and how we can connect to our traditions and other people through it. It certainly made me hungry for more.~

Highlights for me were the Bangkok, Osaka, and Cebu episodes.

While Irena Gut's real life actions are obviously important and commendable, I was not aware of all of her story before watching this film, so, in this case, I'm not letting the accuracy of the facts and hardships of the real events and persons affect my opinions on the film.

This isn’t the second time that I’ve watch this movie. In fact, I have experienced the story four times already. The first time by reading the manga, the second by going out of my way to watch it at the cinema, the third one when it was released on digital platforms, and the fourth one today by sharing it with my mom. However, I can only register it so many times before it becomes annoying, so this is the one…

I lost it when they showed the 0.5 second shot of the tiger as a nod to the first film. Remember the tiger? I wish it stopped glorifying the first movie so much. I swore they mentioned Maximus’ name, or showed his ring, or his armor, or said one of his quotes at least once every ten minutes. You can even tell Paul Mescal is trying as hard as he can to sound exactly the same as Russell Crowe.

In the end, I was not entertained. 👎
