This is the second time I've watched this, and to be honest I like it even more now. Sure, it is rough around the edges in some places, and the editors did (by all accounts) drop a lot of great footage, but what we're left with is a very tight, snappy, science fiction horror film that explores some interesting ideas and looks cool and iconic while doing it.

Gaia 2021
Entirely set in the jungle, and shot with a small cast, Gaia has an original setting, and a reasonably spooky bio-horror premise. The monsters look great. It doesn’t succeed at being scary, but it is thrilling, and it has some genuinely tense scenes. None of it looks cheap in a schlocky sense, but by the end of the runtime, you do strongly notice the small number of sets and the sparse cast.

It's a Wonderful Life 1946
This is one of those feel-good films that gets a lot of love, and with good reason. James Stewart puts in a stellar performance as a man who reluctantly gives his whole life to helping his community, without having any plan to do so, and without any expectation of receiving anything in return.
And this is the core of the film: James Stewart is just so loveable. Of course, he carries this film - he has an energy that just fills up every scene, and he's a character that few audiences can feel anything towards but affection. I understand why this is such a Christmas classic.
