The Umbrellas of Cherbourg 1964
i’ve been thinking about human connection, and how regardless of how far into the future we get, we are still so connected to our past. this movie really reminded me of that. it gives us such a breathtaking, heartbreaking, and modern story that felt so real… the script is so so so good, and every character felt so real. deryl and i watched it at the alamo, and coming out of it they compared it to past lives (2023) and i think that’s a really perfect fit. such similar stories with such differing presentations. i loved it so much (i cried)
