I enjoyed this film. I use the word "enjoy" very loosely - only because there isn't a word I can comfortably replace it with. I found myself absolutely squirming at some very unexpected corners (and at all the expected corners, too).

Okay, this film isn't subtle. But why should it be? It was pretty cathartic to see every disgusting tradeoff our main character makes being brought to the forefront, and being reckoned with so visibly.

There's also a great tonal balance here. We can all be perpetrators in the oppression we face, but we are still victims at the end of the day, more than anything.

The most 'meh' movie of the year, and only the second best performance by Timothee Chalamet.

I might be watching Spielberg in the wrong order, but there's something so sweet about meeting him as a kid in The Fabelmans, and later saying "of course this guy grew up to make Jurassic Park".

Each decade, the hubris of man leads us closer to total societal collapse. Thanks, Jeff Goldblum, for succinctly capturing this point. Also thanks, Jeff Goldblum, for reminding me how hot everyone was in the 90s.

A treat and also genuinely terrifying. Wish I could have seen it on anything other than a buffering laptop screen.
