Pretty engaging! Mediocre accent work from both nic hoult and j.k simmons but toni collette nailed it.
Favourite shots: the two explicit pans to the “in god we trust” seal and the statue of blind justice in the two scenes where toni collette is contemplating justice.
A very good descent into hell movie, and Kubrick is the king of capturing bad vibes. Feel like it didn’t maximize its potential though, and I can’t quite put my finger on why
I get why it’s a classic. The simplicity of it all is great, John carpenter rules at atmosphere and the fact he did the music himself is awesome. I just found it hilarious that every character made a series of truly baffling decisions throughout the whole movie. It’s like that whole area of Illinois was affected by a years-long gas leak or something
