As always: Great cast (with the depth of stars being Marvel's biggest strength), nice action sequences, promising start ---- plot goes astray ---- decent ending, recycled formula.
The thing is, the film is probably the best display of what is both wrong with Marvel blockbusters (they wear themselves out the longer you watch them) and what is so exciting about them (They're probably what a 10 year old me dreamed of seeing).

This film either ends up with you leaving the cinema pondering over what the South American waterways are hiding from us (just kidding, but I bet you're thinking about that now!) or with you believing in Del Toro's vision and letting him bring you into his vibrant imagination where love with a blue, god like, boiled egg eating Amphibian isn't that strange after all.
