This is riveting documentary storytelling with actual footage of people caught inside tornados. Don’t be fooled by the Netflix focus group title of the film, this is a touching tribute to Joplin, Missouri and the survivors who looked at the face of black death and lived to tell the tale.

The Brutalist 2024
This one took 5 viewings. Admirable for its design but ultimately this was a brutal slog to get through. This is a great immigrant tale bogged down by the sum of its parts. This story did not need to be told in 3 hours and 20 minutes and for that, it’s as pretentious and egotistical as Lazlo Toth himself. There is literally a scene where Guy Pearce says how poetic the dialogue of the movie is out loud. My favorite part about this movie was the design treatment of the credits and its font and kearning.
