Incredible film - intensely enjoyable performances all around, but especially from Talia Ryder. Fantastically paced, intense, and gripping throughout.
Aside: Somewhat of a sacrilegious opinion as well, but I enjoyed Ryder’s performance here more than I did Teller’s in Whiplash.
Really a fun little movie. Tight runtime, and it shoves as many gags as it can in the time - though the ending, with the almost unbelievably long bell tolls makes the film. Have not occasioned to see any other version of the film - but almost can’t imagine them, having seen this one.
Aside: The scene where all of Monty’s investments (lumber and fuel, the bank, the horse race) turn out well - absolutely a laugh out loud moment.
Incredibly disconcerting film - said so often, but just presents itself as a deep sense of disorientation and dread. Music was a fun touch - found it enhanced the sense of horror. Certainly would not have thought as such before starting my watch.
Aside: Currently on my way to get cancelled for cheering for the cop the whole time.
