sophie thatcher really elevates this. it’s a great concept and paradigm of society to explore satirically- the power dynamics of a relationship under patriarchy. the problem is- beyond showing how shitty jack quaid’s character is- we’re not really given the depth that the concept could allow. as a result, what we receive is a well done slasher with an actress giving a phenomenal performance- but the screenplay kind of fails to meet its potential after the first act sets a fantastic scene.

I'll write a long ass review of this one day, but for now, it's still so much fun, a film that never stops moving, is euphoric and exciting throughout its entire run time, with two great leads and visual effects unlike which the world has seen. So much beauty and elegance...and I'm not just talking about Olivia Cooke.

I smile the whole time while watching, and I doubt I'll ever not.
