Honestly the most effective use of its CGI gimmick is in the cocaine scenes, because I am all out of sympathies watching yet another white boy twat overdose on party drugs but jesus christ I was so terrified I was about to watch a chinpanzee die of a sweaty heart attack every time he snorts another line. Ingenious concept and masterfully used.

It's finally a movie version of Hellboy that feels like the comics, but there's really not enough material here to support a feature film so at multiple points it just grinds to a halt and plods around.

Maybe the right move would have been an anthology film with three 30 minute shorts about Hellboy in different eras.

Very proud of Patrick for making a movie that's almost the length of a Sarah Z video essay.

It is not advisable to put "samurai" in the title if the majority of your cast is incapable of swinging a sword.
