“I drive,” Ryan Gosling’s unnamed “Driver” mutters during Drive’s opening monologue. While the film contains intense action sequences at the wheel, do not make the mistake of thinking this film focuses primarily on such fast-paced thrills. Refn decides instead to center the film around scenes with minimal dialogue or fighting; the vast majority of the film moves extremely slowly compared to other driving heist-oriented movies.

Drive begins exactly as one might expect: the Driver is hired as the getaway driver…

The Road to Barbenheimer: Episode VI

What is there that hasn't already been said about The Dark Knight? Arguably Nolan's magnum opus and easily the greatest superhero film that will EVER be released, The Dark Knight succeeds because it transcends genre itself.

This is a movie I have no trouble returning to time and time again because there simply are NO flaws. Try and convince me of them...I'm listening.

Heath Ledger's performance as Joker still stands as the greatest performance…

basically a combination of the wall from game of thrones and the biology of annihilation wrapped in a generic action movie. good fun tho!

Truly the most brutal, haunting film I've ever seen. I am completely speechless. Even though I knew the ending going in, it hit harder than anything than I've ever witnessed. Wow...I have never experienced such emotions from a movie before. I am literally sweating buckets right now. I want to write a real review for this, but I can't even fathom putting words together to describe this film.

The Road to Barbenheimer: Episode III

After the whirlwind of mind tricks and emotions created in Memento, Nolan moved a more straightforward thriller by remaking the Norwegian film Insomnia. While not able to reach the ridiculously high bar made by Memento, Insomnia stands on its own as a well-made film, if not a particularly remarkable one.

Like Memento, Nolan adds a hurdle for our protagonist to overcome; instead of having no memory, Al Pacino's character is haunted by a moment…
