  I am reminded of a quote from the Black Mirror episode "Joan is awful" in which the Netflix equivalent executive describes how to produce the most addictive content to cater to the most viewers.

  "When we focus on the audience's more weak or selfish or craven moments, it confirms their innermost fears and puts them in a state of mesmerized horror. They literally can't look away". This is content, not storytelling.
