Lawrence and Ali are kinda like opposites who switch places over the course of the movie. In the starting lawrence cares about the dead, while Ali doesn’t seem to care at all. But by the end, it’s the other way around. Ali is the one showing compassion, and Lawrence has become cold and indifferent. That’s the moment they officially trade places. In the end, the desert breaks Lawrence, but Ali moves past it. Ali’s humility and self-control keep him grounded, while Lawrence’s arrogance is what ruins him.
