A lighthearted depiction of severe mental illness is something I never thought could be accomplished until viewing this film. Park Chan-Wook depicts his characters with the utmost compassion and empathy through their own distorted perspectives, entertaining their delusions only to the point where they begin to become immediately life-threatening ( i.e. young-goons refusal to eat). Completely foregoing the approach of treating these illnesses to instead accept these delusions as they are, gives Chan-wook the perfect opportunity to let his creativity…
