  I do not know what message this is trying to get across, but I do believe Helen is a very delusional & unrealistic character... (obviously conjured up by a male)

  Oh my. This just reveals to us the typical, yet implicit male need: someone who'll put up with the downs unconditionally without getting much in return.

  Problematic, yet an engaging film.. especially since film-noir is usually a total bore to me. Americans are just a nuisance, even in black & white. 😔
