Despite expecting it entirely, Sirk's tripling(?) of the mirror motif during the Christmas present reveal shook me more than anything else in this movie. A transparent plot conceals a delicate indictment of humanity's alienated mass played by light, color, and shadow.

Captures the tone of the novel better than the 2005 adaptation. Not a series of any visual interest but very pleasing to someone who enjoys thinking about the mechanics of correct (or misplaced) attempts at adaptation in terms of theatrical staging and revision.
